What is Catholic Social Teaching?
It is the vision of the world where people live in right relationships with God, with ourselves with each other,
and with our common home, the Earth.
Catholic Social Teaching is a set of principles that have grown through living Jesus' message for nearly 2000 years. Catholics have also drawn on the knowledge and insights of recent writings by our Popes - called encyclicals - over the past 200 years. CST has been formed in the Gospel virtues and values of love, peace, justice, compassion, reconciliation, service and community to be a guide as we live in an ever changing world.
"The Catholic Social Teaching Principals are the Church's teaching about the ordering of life in society and about the attainment of individual and social justice." (YouCat p.180)
