Why do we use the colours of purple, doesn't that represent repentance?
The colour purple in our tradition symbolises a time of preparation. During Advent we are reminded that it is a time of joyful, exciting preparation rather than remorse. Purple historically was the colour of royalty and it is used in Advent to signify the coming of Christ and his kingdom.
We are preparing during Advent to celebrate Christmas, and the anniversary of Jesus coming into the world. This is also a time when we prepare for him to come again at our death or at the end of time.

Advent is not lent!
Lent is like an internal spring clean while Advent is more of a cosy,
preparing your house/heart for a special guest.
