Pentecost - play by play
1) The word Pentecost is Greek it means "50th day." We celebrate the Holy Spirit coming Fifty days after Easter Sunday
2) Pentecost marks the beginning of our mission to share God and God's big plan with everyone.
3) Pentecost is known as the Church's birthday (and because you are a member of the body of Christ you get an invitation to celebrate too!)
4) At Pentecost Peter invited everyone to be Baptised and so the Church was born. Peter was also the first Catholic Pope.
5) FYI - Even in the time of Jesus Pentecost existed as a Jewish harvest festival called Shavuot. However, it took on a whole new meaning for Christians.
