There are four parts to the mass called:
The introductory rite
The Liturgy of the Word
The Liturgy of the Eucharist
The concluding rite
Mass is place for Catholics to refuel and reconnect!
The Introduction:
We gather together after a week of trying to live our lives as Gods wants us to live. So it may help to think of this part of the mass as a welcome back from mission, instead of the introduction! As we all meet we are reminded that we are not perfect, in fact we come because we know to be whole we need God. We understand that there is something more to life and that our faith although personal can only be understood in community. ......................................................................................... Liturgy of the Word:
The liturgy of the word is the part of the mass when we quiet ourselves and listen to God speaking to us through the scriptures, through the homily, and we respond in the psalm, the Alleluia and the Prayers of the Faithful ......................................................................................... The Liturgy of the Eucharist:
We eat and share a meal together. Eating the living bread sustains us in our daily lives and strengthens us to live lives in the Spirit - Lives that are loving, forgiving, understanding and peace filled. When Catholic’s gather to celebrate Eucharist, we are reminded that Jesus Christ, is always here, God is always working in our lives. ......................................................................................... The Conclusion:
Now we go out into our communities, this is not so much the end of mass but the return to mission; re-fueled and ready to go. ..................................................................................................... |
